Our festival is geared towards players having a great day of soccer and fun. Teams will play four 30 minute games with a five minute halftime break. Games are officiated by a player from the Dartmouth Men's or Women's Soccer team. The U9 teams will play 6v6, while the U10-U12 teams will play 8v8. All games will be on regulation sized fields, and use size 4 balls. We will match teams against other teams of similary ability as best we can. This will ensure an enjoyable experience for all. The 11v11 tournament will take place Saturday May 26 and Sunday May 27 at Sachem field in Hanover. We are accepting applications for U16 boys teams, U16 girls teams, U18 boys teams, and U18 girls teams. Special acceptions are made to U15 and U17 teams who wish to compete at our tournament. We are accepting eight boys teams and eight girls teams in each age group. These teams will be divided into two groups of four. Each team will play three round robin group games. The first place team in each group of four will play each other, the second place team in each group of four will play each other, the third place team in each group of four will play each other, and the fourth place team in each age group will play each other. Held on the beautiful Dartmouth College Campus in Hanover, NH, the three day tournament attracts 5,000 people and over one hundred teams, representing every New England State, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Canada. We offer a 6v6, 8v8 and an 11v11 tournament, each taking place at one location with up to 10 fields. The tournament is sanctioned by the state of New Hampshire and by the U.S.Y.S.A. The Dartmouth Cup also offers competitive full length matches and a championship style format for teams participating in the tournament. Each team is guaranteed three games total, two on Saturday and one on Sunday. The plan is to have two divisions per age category with Division 1 including premier, select and highly competitive travel teams and Division 2 to include travel teams. Last year we had 160 teams from all over the Northeast. This tournament is approved by the New Hampshire Youth Soccer Association, a member of the United States Soccer Federation. This tournament is intended for affiliated clubs. Our official application deadline is May 5th, 2006 but early submission will ensure your team will be included. Based on existing field space we will have limits on the total number of teams we will accept. Last year we had to turn away teams that submitted their applications late in the process. Teams age groups ranged from U8 Co-Ed through Men's Open division. This is one of the few tournaments with a Men's Open division. The games were held at both Northeast Delta Dental's corporate fields and at New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord, NH. Each team was guaranteed a minimum of 3 games plus playoffs. Each game consisted of 2 - 15 minute halves, a couple of minutes longer than traditional 4v4 games. The format included no goalies, no throw-ins, substitution on-the-fly, no off-sides, and every foul resulted in a direct unobstructed shot on goal. Both the Referee Director and all the referees did an outstanding job. There were no minor or major injuries sustained throughout the tournament and everyone appeared to have a fun and safe tournament. Northeast Delta Dental continues to be pleased with the event and have decided to continue to make it an annual event and have expressed their great hope that it will grow in the years to come.
